What about the hit n run system? 24 or 48h seed limit is more than 0.1 ratio. The ratio system can be stressful when you download old content.

Grab games as soon as they are posted. When there are a few seeders and a lot of leechers you can get that ratio up very quickly. Use a seedbox if you can afford it.

If you can't even muster a 0.10 ratio then this site is better off without you. That is an incredibly generous rule already as is.

No way I can get up to 0.100 now, even though I have over 25 GBs of uploads my download is over 1 TB... Nice move to turn us away from this forum which was great and now is just useless...

Even if I download an NHL game within 15 minutes of its upload and leave it on for 5 days afterwards, the ratio will rarely exceed 0.40.
A couple weeks ago a game magically reached 0.70.
Usually it is more like 0.07 though. (My ratio is 0.121)

I don't think I have ever successfully seeded anything to 1.00 ever here, no matter how long I left the torrent active.

So, I have two questions:

1. Where do you non-uploaders get your leechers from?
2. Is there some kind of priority effect in play when it comes to leechers?

That is, if the "fastest seeder" is always preferred, than this will only result in those in the top 5%(?) of fastest upload speeds getting most of the potential ratio.
If such a system is in place (for live sports especially, which are under a kind of "best by date" effect, unlike movies) then the notion of enforcing a ratio any higher than 0.1 is in effect punishing people for something they have no control over.

Rather than ratio, "Uncapped Seeding Uptime" would be a more accurate indication (if it could be recorded) of someone's positive participation on this website.
But, I suppose that is not possible.

@tnikita, I also downloaded the same game, I was in the first 100 people to get this weekend divisional games . Still seeding and could barely get to half of your ratio, which just shows how subjective this thing is. But check out the games above, last week wildcards, which I downloaded about 1 day after they were posted. Still seeding and impossible to get above 0.15, which honestly is super low. If you download after 2-3 days you get zero ratio for sure... These are not movies that people get even one year later.

@jezheads - I'm seeding from a NAS server on a 500 MB/s connection, so as long as I have space I leave the games for seeding but get super low upload after more than 3 days from the game so I don't think a seedbox is the solution.

@kinect - It's clear everyone here appreciates what all you guys are doing, it's wonderful and a lot of work. Probably most of us are willing to donate (you could set up a buy 500GB or 1 TB upload donation system) or whatever, but it should be a system that is fair and does not punish the late comers to a game. Just my 0.02$

Grabbing them early with few seeders does do the trick.. Ratio at 4 now

If you are new to this sort of thing, it may look hard, but there is a way to contribute.

If nobody will download from you on the things you usually download, look for other stuff like games, download just the moment they are posted, like many users suggested, and your ratio will go up soon. Also seeding classic games for a long time will give you a huge bump sometimes. I downloaded several NBA Finals and NFL Super Bowls (some of them I have not watched yet) and left them there having now a 10:1 ratio on some.

I understand this is hard for some users that seem to have downloaded the whole Internet and shared almost nothing. You probably will not be able to get the proper ratio ever, but hey, it's kind of on you, don't you think? For those I suggest creating a new user and find a way to share from now on :-)

If you cannot share anything, because your Internet connection is shit or cannot keep it alive for long, there are other ways to contribute that many users already pointed out in this thread. Take something, give something back.

well if someone have ratio 150 on some torrents, he/she gives others without a seedbox a small chance that they will also raise the ratio.
Understand, it's great that we can download at such a speed, but either everyone who want to use this tracker will have buy seedbox (do we really want it?), or those who already have them will be more considerate and limit their upload speed, when they reach a certain ratio or when the torrent has enough other seeders...

I think we should try to find a more balanced solution, that's just my two cents.

I don't think it helps if you have a slow connection - I was recently upgraded to 25/4 from 12/1 Mbps !
I started downloading the Bills vs KC game only 6 minutes after it was posted - I was lucky since my timezone usually means I see the files hours later. It has a ratio of 0.23. I leave every file seeding for at least a month after they are put up and my ratio is just 0.266. Not much more I could do...

My point was that although i have a 150:1 ratio on several torrents that i am seeding, my ratio here is only 60 something. So, even if you are seeding, perhaps you are not getting proper credit.
