1927 For the second consecutive day, an umpire at Ebbets Field is the target of fan abuse. Arbitrator Frank Wilson needs a police escort after the Robins (Dodgers) drop a twin bill to Cubs.

1930 After hitting three consecutive home runs, his first three-homer performance in a regular season game, Babe Ruth decides to bat from the opposite side (right-handed) in the ninth inning. After two quick strikes, the 35 year-old 'Sultan of Swat' crosses the plate to bat lefty, but A's hurler Jack Quinn still strikes out the Bambino in Philadelphia's 15-7 rout of the Yankees at Shibe Park.

1947 Joe DiMaggio is slapped with a $100 fine, along with four teammates who penalized to a lesser degree, by Yankee GM Lee MacPlail for not fulfilling contract requirements to do promotional duties for the team. The New York outfielder had reneged on a promise to pose for a Signal Corps photograph featuring soldiers wearing new Army uniforms.

1952 The Dodgers score a major league record fifteen first inning runs en route to a 19-1 victory over the Reds at Ebbets Field. After retiring the first batter, the next 19 Brooklyn batters reached base (10 hits, 7 BB & 2 HBP). Captain Pee Wee Reese reaches first base three times in the inning.

1957 Reaffirming their decision to bar females from the Fenway Park's male-only press box, Boston baseball writers deny a seat to Doris O'Donnell, a feature writer following the Indians.

1992 Manager Buck Rodgers and eleven others are injured when the Angels' team bus goes out of control on the New Jersey Turnpike and crashes into trees. The 53 year-old skipper is seriously injured and will miss nearly 90 games.

2004 In his return to Texas, Alex Rodriguez is roundly booed by the patrons at the Ballpark in Arlington. The fans continue to show their displeasure when the Yankees' third baseman drives a 2-1 pitch over the fence during his first inning at-bat.

2005 When Dae-Sung Koo bats against Randy Johnson, Mike Piazza confides to David Wright in the dugout, "If he gets a hit, I'll donate a million dollars to charity." The Korean reliever, batting lefty off the Yankee fire-balling southpaw, who was afraid to stand in the batter's box in a previous game, promptly hits a 91-mph fastball to the wall in center for a double, causing the Mets catcher to remark he'll be making a significant donation to a charity over the next 20 years.

2012 Rockies starter Jamie Moyer extends his major league record when he makes his debut at the newly opened Marlins Park, having now pitched in 50 major league ballparks. The 49 year-old southpaw started his career with a victory for Philadelphia at Wrigley Field in 1986.

2013 Mike Trout becomes the youngest player in American League history to hit for the cycle when he goes 4-for-5 in the Angels' 12-0 rout of the Mariners. The 21 year-old 'Millville Meteor' beats out an infield single in the third, triples in the fourth, doubles in the sixth and goes deep in the eighth, becoming the sixth player in franchise history to accomplish the feat.

1922 The Yankees, who have been sharing the Polo Grounds with the Giants since 1913, begin construction on their own ballpark in the Bronx. The stadium will become known as the 'House that Ruth Built', acknowledging the Babe's popularity and influence.

1930 Babe Ruth ties a major league record by hitting five homers in two games and six homers in three games when he hit three homers in the second game of yesterday's doubleheader, two more in the opener of today's twin bill, adding one more in the nightcap. Teammate Lou Gehrig also goes deep three times in the second game of the doubleheader, a 20-13 Yankee victory over the A's at Philadelphia's Shibe Park.

1933 Yankee third baseman Joe Sewell is struck out for the first time this season, a victim of Cleveland's Wes Ferrell. The 34 year-old infielder, playing in his final season, will strike out only three more times in 524 at-bats.

1942 Ted Williams is sworn into the U.S. Navy, but will remain with the Red Sox until he is called for active duty. Earlier in the year, a public outcry occurred when the Boston outfielder asked to be reclassified from Class 1-A to 3-A, due to being the sole support of his mother, causing the Quaker Oats Company to drop him from their ads.

1962 Roger Maris is intentionally walked four times to establish a major league record. The quartet of free passes is issued by four different Halo hurlers in New York's' 2-1 victory over the Angels in 12 innings at Yankee Stadium.

1963 Mickey Mantle once again just barely misses becoming the first player to hit a home run out of Yankee Stadium. The monstrous walk-off blast off A’s hurler Bill Fischer, which gives the Yankees an 8-7 victory, hits just a few feet below the decorative faзade down the right-field line.

1977 In a 14-10 Boston victory at Fenway Park, the Red Sox (6) and Brewers (5) combined for 11 home runs to tie a major league record. The round-tripper riot matches the mark set by the Yankees and Tigers in 1950 and equaled by the Cubs and Mets in 1967.

1982 In his last major league at bat, Mario Mendoza, who will become a minor league hitting instructor, reaches first on a fielder’s choice, ending his nine-year career with a .215 batting average. The Ranger infielder’s name will become infamous as players struggling at the plate will be described as performing below the ‘Mendoza Line’.

1998 The Mets trade Preston Wilson, Geoff Goetz and Ed Yarnell to the Marlins for Mike Piazza. Florida had acquired the All-Star catcher last week from the Dodgers along with Todd Zeille in exchange for Gary Sheffield, Bobby Bonilla, Charles Johnson, Jim Eisenreich, and Manuel Barrios.

1999 After a stint on the disabled list and a rain out, Yankees' right-hander Roger Clemens finally breaks the American League record for consecutive victories with 18, previously shared by Johnny Allen (Indians, 1936-37) and Dave McNally (Orioles, 1968-69). The somewhat anticlimactic accomplishment includes ten no-decisions.

2001 For the second time this season, Barry Bonds homers in six consecutive games. His nine homers during this span establish a National League mark. Senators' slugger Frank Howard's 1968 feat of hitting 10 homers in six games is the major league record.

2002 In what appears to be a lopsided trade, the A's trade a stunned Jeremy Giambi (.274, 8, 17) to Philadelphia in exchange for pinch hitter John Mabry (.286, 0, 3). The Oakland outfielder is also four years younger than the Phillies' utility man, but he doesn't meet the 'Moneyball' approach preached by GM Billy Beane.

2003 Arturo Moreno purchases the World Champion Angels from Walt Disney for $184 million to become the third owner in the 43-year history of the franchise. The 56 year-old outdoor advertising tycoon, a fourth-generation Mexican-American, is the first Hispanic to have a controlling interest in a major league club

Так хочется посмотреть все игры. Но понимаю, что это нереально. Ограничил список только играми с Виасата. Но даже этот список слишком большой... Не знаю, как выбирать... Ведь каждая игра интересна по-своему... Уже 28 игр скачал, а времени не хватает.
Попробую качать игры с большим количеством хоумранов у обеих команд.
Раньше уже пробовал смотреть игры с Yankees. Скачал весь сезон 2012 года! Даже по одной игре в день получается много.

пару лет назад смотрел на рандоме 2-3 игры в неделю, сейчас уже второй год смотрю только Angels, в прошлом сезоне посмотрел с ними 81 игру (ровно 50%), в этом сезоне так же планирую

Игра ARI - STL 20.05 наверняка была очень интересной.

Да и передача tonight помогает - самые интересные моменты игрового дня за 40 минут. То, что нужно, когда глаза разбегаются, не зная, какую игру посмотреть.

1924 Senator right-hander Walter Johnson strikes out 14, including six consecutive batters to tie an AL mark, en route to tossing a 4-0 one-hitter over Chicago. A fourth inning single by Harry Hooper spoils the 'Big Train's' bid for his second career no-hitter.

1935 The first-ever scheduled major league night game is rained out in Cincinnati, but the team will face the Phillies tomorrow night. The Reds will play eight evening contests this season, including one against every club in the National League.

1936 With the Reds trailing by three runs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning at Crosley Field, Sammy Byrd hits Cy Blanton's pitch for a game-ending home run, giving Cincinnati an incredible come-from-behind 4-3 victory. The 29 year-old outfielder becomes the third major leaguer to hit a walk-off grand slam, which is a homer that comes in the home team's final at-bat and erases a three-run deficit, resulting in a one-run victory.

1948 Yankees' slugger Joe DiMaggio hits three consecutive home runs, the first two off future Hall of Famer Bob Feller. The trio of round-trippers helps the Bronx Bombers defeat the Tribe, 6-5.

1962 Joe Pepitone homers twice to become the second player in Yankee history to hit two home runs in the same inning when the Bronx Bombers score nine times in the eighth inning of a 13-7 rout of Kansas City. In 1936 as a rookie, Joe DiMaggio became the first pinstriper to accomplish the feat.

1965 Mets' outfielder Ron Swoboda takes up his position wearing a batting helmet - on his foot. After kicking the protective head gear, which gets stuck on his spikes, manager Casey Stengel ordered the young player to go out to the field.

1965 In the first inning of a 5-2 loss to San Francisco, Jimmy Wynn is unable to catch Jim Ray Hart's two-out routine fly ball when the ball is lost in the glare of diffused Texas sunlight streaming through plastic panes of the newly-opened Astrodome. The play, now a base-clearing inside-the-park three-run home run instead of an easy third out, results in the painting of the ballpark's ceiling the next day and will lead to the use of Astroturf next season, because grass will be unable to be grown due to the reduced amount of sunlight.

1984 The Tigers win their 16th consecutive road game, defeating the Angels, 4-2. Detroit's victory ties an American League record established by the Senators in 1912.

1991 Kirby Puckett strokes five singles and a triple in the Twins' 10-6 loss to Texas at the Metrodome. It is the second time the outfielder has collected six hits in a game, making him the first major leaguer to have accomplished the feat twice.

1998 David Wells extends his American League record consecutive outs streak to 38 when Boston leadoff hitter Darren Lewis grounds out to start the game. The Yankee southpaw, who authored a perfect game in his last start, had also retired the final ten Kansas City batters he faced in the start prior to the 'perfecto'.

2000 Mariners' outfielder Rickey Henderson draws his 2,000th career walk, becoming only the third player in baseball history to reach the milestone. Hall of Famers Babe Ruth and Ted Williams are the only other major leaguers to have accomplished the feat.

2002 Shawn Green hits four home runs in one game to become the 14th player in major league history, the second this month, to accomplish the feat. The Dodger right fielder's 6-for-6 performance in Milwaukee's Miller Park, which also includes a single and double, breaks Joe Adcock's 1954 mark for total bases by one, with a total of 19.

2004 Surpassing Tommy Agee’s 1969 team record, shortstop Kaz Matsui sets a franchise mark with his fifth lead-off home run of the season, becoming the first Mets player to hit lead-off homers in consecutive games. The 28 year-old Japanese native is also the first big leaguer to have his first five career round-trippers be hit batting first in the first inning of a game.

2011 In a profile piece written for The New Yorker magazine, Fred Wilpon makes some very candid comments about some of the 'stars' on his payroll. The embattled Mets owner is critical of the often injured Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran and calls David Wright a nice kid, but "not a superstar".

1936 At Shibe Park, second baseman Tony Lazzeri becomes the first major league player to hit two grand slams in the same game when the Yankees annihilate the A's, 25-2. The bases-full homers enable the future member of the Hall of Fame to establish a new American League record with 11 RBIs.

1940 The Browns host the first major league game played in St. Louis under the lights. A Friday evening crowd of 24,827, the largest attendance figure in 18 years, watches Bob Feller and the Indians beat the home team at Sportsman's Park, 3-2.

1941 'Big Poison' Paul Waner is signed by the Braves after being released by Brooklyn. The former Dodger joins his brother 'Little Poison' Lloyd on the Boston roster.

1956 In Detroit, Mickey Mantle goes 5-for-5 with an intentional walk in the Yankees' 11-5 victory over the Tigers. "The Commerce Comet's" offensive output includes a homer and four singles.

1957 On an off day at Fenway Park, Ted Williams, using his shotgun, shoots approximately 35 pigeons, sitting on a chair in front of the bullpen of the empty ballpark. The ‘Kid’s’ target practice predictably upsets the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, but Red Sox owner and avid sportsman Tom Yawkey’s participation in the ‘hunt’ helps to quell the outrage usually directed at the superstar ballplayer.

1964 The major league mark for shutouts in one day is broken as seven of the twenty major league teams do not cross home plate. The Twins, White Sox, Yankees, Mets, Phillies, Cardinals, and Pirates are all blanked.

1965 With glare of the sun shining through the roof making fly balls difficult to track during day games, the clear plastic panes of the Astrodome's ceiling are painted at a cost of $20,000. The decision to cover the roof, which reduces the ambient lighting by 40%, prevents the ballpark's natural grass from growing and will lead to the use of Astroturf next season.

1972 At Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, Don Rose homers on the first pitch he sees in his first major league at bat. The right-hander's third inning round-tripper, which will be his only career round tripper and the last hit by an American League hurler for thirty years, proves to be the difference in the Angels' 6-5 victory over the A's, earning the 25 year-old his only victory in the big leagues.

1986 A “drunk” Billy Martin is "fired" as the co-host of Saturday Night Live by executive producer Lorne Michaels after slurring his lines during a skit. In retaliation, the often-unemployed Yankee manager "sets fire" to his dressing room at the end of the show, which is the season finale.

1993 The Mets play their 5000th game in team history, losing to Philadelphia at Veterans Stadium, 6-3. Although New York has a record of 527 wins and 473 losses in its last thousand games, the franchise is still 338 games under .500 since playing its first contest in 1962.

1994 In a 13-6 Oriole win over Milwaukee at County Stadium, Cal Ripken hits his 300th career home run. The milestone round-tripper is a three-run shot to deep left field off Teddy Higuera in the third inning.

1995 Tossing a scoreless ninth inning in the A's 5-2 win over Baltimore, Dennis Eckersley records his 300th career save. The Oakland right-hander becomes the sixth reliever in major league history to reach the milestone.

2000 Mark McGwire becomes the fastest player to hit 20 home runs in one season, reaching the mark in 35 games. 'Big Mac' accomplishes the feat in six less contests than Mickey Mantle (1956) and his own record (1998).

2000 Sixteen Dodger players and three coaches are suspended by the commissioner's office for going into the stands during the Wrigley Field scuffle with fans on May 16. The suspensions totaling 60 games for players and 24 games for coaches is the harshest penalty ever handed down by major league baseball.

2000 Ahead by seven runs after five innings of play at Enron Field, the hometown Astros find a way to lose to the Phillies, 9-7. Two days earlier, in Milwaukee, with a 9-2 advantage in the bottom of the ninth inning, Houston blew another seven-run lead in the eventual ten-inning, 10-9 loss to the Brewers at County Stadium.

2001 Cincinnati is finally shut out when Cubs' starter Jon Lieber one-hits the Reds on 79 pitches, 3-0. The span of 208 of games without being blanked establishes a new National League record, with the 1931-33 Yankees (308) and the 1978-79 Milwaukee Brewers (212) being the only teams with longer streaks.

2007 In his 1,000th major league game, Ichiro Suzuki goes 3-for-6, giving the Mariner outfielder a career total of 1,414 hits. Only Hall of Famer Al Simmons compiled more in a same span of games, collecting 1,443 from 1924-1931 for the Philadelphia A's.

1910 In the nightcap of a twin bill in Chicago, Jack Coombs' scoreless streak ends at 53 innings during a 5-2 loss in a game shortened by darkness. The A's right-hander will throw 13 shutouts in 38 games he starts and will finish the season with a 31-9 record and an ERA of 1.30.

1922 After being called out for trying to stretch a single into double, Babe Ruth throws dirt the umpire’s eye, then goes after a heckler in the stands, and finishes his tirade by standing on the dugout roof calling the crowd “yellow” cowards. These actions will result in a one game suspension, a $200 fine, and will cost the 'Bambino' his Yankee captaincy, a position he has held for less than a week.

1923 Crossing the plate for the 1,741st time, Ty Cobb surpasses Honus Wagner's record for most runs scored in a career. The 'Georgia Peach' will tally 2,245 runs during his 24-year tenure in the major leagues, a mark which will not be equaled until 2001 when Rickey Henderson breaks the record.

1935 At Forbes Field, Boston Braves outfielder Babe Ruth hits three homers and a single in an 11-7 loss to the Pirates in Pittsburgh. The 'Sultan of Swat's' seventh-inning solo shot off Gary Bush, a blast which clears the ballpark's roof, will be the Bambino's 714th and final home run.

1951 At Shibe Park, the much-heralded Giant rookie Willie Mays makes his major league debut against the Phillies. The 20 year-old outfielder, who hit .477 in 35 games with the Minneapolis Millers before being called up, goes hitless in five trips to the plate, but makes two outstanding defensive plays to contribute to New York’s 8-5 victory.

1979 When Pirates left fielder Bill Robinson loses Joel Youngblood's ball in the Shea Stadium outfield mist, the umpires stop play. Due to the fog, the 11-inning contest ends after a 73-minute delay in a 3-3 tie.

1981 Joining Ty Cobb‚ Stan Musial‚ and Hank Aaron, Carl Yastrzemski becomes the fourth major leaguer to appear in 3‚000 games. Yaz makes it memorable by scoring the winning run in the Red Sox' 8-7 victory over Cleveland at Fenway Park.

1998 Cardinals first baseman Mark McGwire becomes the first player in major league history to hit 25 home runs before June 1. Ken Griffey Jr. is the only other player to hit 24 home runs before the start of the sixth month.

2002 With four homers on Thursday (5/23), one on Friday (5/24), and two more on Saturday (5/25), Shawn Green becomes the first major leaguer to hit seven round-trippers in three games. 2005 In a game against the Orioles, the Mariners battery consists of a pair of 42 year-olds as Jamie Moyer throws to backstop Pat Borders. 2011 In the 12th inning of an eventual 7-6 loss to Florida, Giants catcher Buster Posey is lost for the season as a result of a brutal collision at home plate with Scott Cousins, who scores the go-ahead run. An MRI will confirm last season's Rookie of the Year has a fractured left fibula and three torn ligaments in his left ankle, and will need season-ending surgery to repair the damage.

1947 The record for the largest crowd to attend a single game in baseball history is set when 74,747 fans, not including the 1,140 people who get their money back when it turns out there is no place left to stand after buying standing room tickets, watch the Yankees beat Boston, 9-3, in a Monday evening tilt at the Bronx ballpark. The previous mark was set in 1932 at Cleveland's spacious Municipal Stadium with a Sunday afternoon game attracting 73,592 patrons to witness Philadelphia's 1-0 victory over the hometown Indians, a contest that takes only a hour and fifty minutes to complete.

1959 The Yankees trade Jerry Lumpe, Tom Sturdivant, and right-hander Johnny Kucks, the first player in franchise history to throw a shutout in Game 7 of the Fall Classic, to the A's in exchange for Hector Lopez and Ralph Terry. In three years, Terry will become the only other Bronx Bomber hurler to pitch a shutout in the seventh game of a World Series.

Ranger teammates Bump Wills and Toby Harrah hit back-to-back inside-the-park home runs on consecutive pitches at Yankee Stadium in 1977.

2000 At Yankee Stadium the game against Boston is delayed when a fan falls from the upper deck and remains motionless for five minutes on the screen behind home plate. The 24 year-old man suddenly sits up and raises both arms high, and then is promptly arrested on a disorderly conduct charge.

2006 Derek Jeter, with a dribbler up the third-base line for an infield single off KC's Scott Elarton, becomes the eighth player in Yankee history to collect 2,000 career hits. The larger mitt, which has a 45-inch circumference, helps as knuckleballer Hoyt Wilhelm goes the distance in Baltimore's 3-2 victory at Yankee Stadium in a game that doesn't feature a wild pitch or a passed ball.

1968 Major league baseball expands outside the confines of the United States when the National League announces the addition of Montreal to the circuit. San Diego is also awarded an expansion team.

1981 After Lenny Randle drops to his hands and knees in an attempt to 'encourage' Amos Otis' slow roller to go foul, umpire Larry McCoy accuses the Mariner third baseman of blowing the ball foul. Randle's explanation that he was merely yelling at the ball not to stay fair is initially convincing until Royals' manager Jim Frey complains.

1984 Mario Soto, Cincinnati's starting pitcher, is ejected from the game when he shoves Steve Rippley, the third base umpire who called Ron Cey's foul ball down the left field line a home run. 1997 At the Metrodome, Ken Griffey Jr. breaks his own major league mark for home runs hit through May when he goes deep for his 23rd round-tripper of the season in an 11-10 loss to Minnesota. The Mariners outfielder had established the record in 1994.

2000 The Reds retire the No. 24 jersey worn by Hall of Famer Tony Perez, marking just the sixth time the oldest professional baseball organization has bestowed the honor. The former first baseman and manager joins Fred Hutchinson (1), Johnny Bench (5), Joe Morgan (8), Ted Kluszewski (18), and Frank Robinson (20) to be honored in such a manner. 1956 Pirates first baseman Dale Long hits his eighth home run in eight games. This major league record will be later tied by Yankee first baseman Don Mattingly (1987) and Mariner outfielder Ken Griffey, Jr. (1993).

1968 The American League votes to divide itself into two divisions and plans to reduce its schedule to 156 games. The Junior Circuit, however, will reconsider and will continue to play a schedule of 162 contests.

1976 Ron LeFlore's 31-game hitting streak comes to an end when Ed Figueroa and Tippy Martinez hold him hitless in four at-bats in Detroit's 9-5 loss to the Yankees. The Tiger outfielder's span of consecutive games with at least one hit, the longest American League hitting streak in 27 years, began on the final day of last season.

1987 Mike Young becomes only the fifth major leaguer to hit two extra-inning home runs in the same game when he goes deep in the 10th and 12th frames. The Orioles DH's second overtime round-tripper gives the Birds an 8-7 walk-off victory over the Halos at Memorial Stadium.

1996 In the Orioles' 12-8 win over Seattle at the Kingdome, Cal Ripken blasts three home runs, a grand slam and two two-run round-trippers, giving him a career-high eight RBIs. The Baltimore shortstop's younger brother, Billy, also goes deep for the Birds, making it the second time the siblings have both homered in the same game.

1998 In the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded and his team leading the Giants 8-6, Diamondbacks' manager Buck Showalter orders that Barry Bonds be intentionally walked with the bases loaded by reliever Gregg Olson. The free pass works when the next batter, Brett Mayne, lines outs to deep center field, giving Arizona an 8-7 victory at Candlestick Park.

2000 The Angels, for the first time in franchise history, hit four homers in one inning. In the fifth frame of the Halos' 11-4 victory, Darin Erstad, Mo Vaughn, Tim Salmon and Garret Anderson all go yard.

2003 When Rafael Furcal, Mark DeRosa and Gary Sheffield all go deep off the Reds' Jeff Austin in the bottom of the first inning, the Braves become only the second team in big league history to begin a game with three consecutive home runs. In San Diego's home opener in 1987, the Padres wasted no time making up a two-run first inning deficit as each of the first three batters, Marvell Wynn, Tony Gwynn, and John Kruk, all went yard in the bottom of the first inning off Giant starter Roger Mason.

2004 Saving the Yankees’ 7-5 win over the Devil Rays in Tampa Bay, Mariano Rivera notches his 300th career save. The Panama City native becomes the first Yankee and 17th reliever in major league history to reach the milestone.

2006 At AT&T Park, Barry Bonds passes Babe Ruth on the all-time home run list, taking sole possession of second place when he hits the 715th homer of his 21-year big league career. The historic homer, which comes off a 90-mph fastball thrown by Byung-Hyum Kim of the Rockies, makes the Giants outfielder the most prolific left-handed slugger in baseball history.

Ironically, the ‘Rajah’ will break his ankle while advancing to third base during the Wrigley Field contest and will not play again until the middle of August.

1932 After dropping a twin bill, some White Sox players accuse George Moriarty of deliberately blowing calls against their team. The umpire, a former Pale Hose player himself, challenges them to a fight, but after he knocks down pitcher Mike Gaston with one punch, skipper Lew Fonseca and backstops Charlie Berry and Frank Grube even the score by thrashing the aggressive arbitrator.

1932 In a pre-game ceremony, the Yankees dedicate a plaque in memory of skipper Miller Huggins. Their former manager, who died near the end of last season, would be delighted with today's doubleheader sweep of the Red Sox, 7-5 and 13-3.

1934 Ben Chapman breaks up Earl Whitehill's no-hitter in the bottom of the ninth inning at Yankee Stadium. Last season, the Bronx Bomber left fielder, after being provoked, hit the right-hander with a punch in the passageway, causing a melee between the two teams that resulted in a 20-minute delay of the game before the police could restore order.

1935 At the Baker Bowl, Babe Ruth of the Boston Braves plays his final major league game, going hitless in a first inning at-bat against the Phillies. On June 2, the former Yankees superstar will announce his retirement from baseball.

1938 A new Yankee Stadium attendance record is set as 81,841 fans attend a doubleheader against the Red Sox. The Bronx Bombers sweep the twin bill, 10-0 and 5-4.

1956 Mickey Mantle comes within 18 inches of becoming the first player to hit a home run out of Yankee Stadium. The prodigious poke off Senators' right-hander Pedro Ramos was still climbing when the ball struck the facade in the upper stands in right field.

1982 Cal Ripken's 2,632 record consecutive game streak, which will span 17 seasons, begins with the Oriole rookie going 0-for-2, batting eighth in a 6-0 loss to Toronto at Memorial Stadium. The 21 year-old infielder plays third base, his position for the first 27 games of the streak, before becoming the team's everyday shortstop, en route to surpassing Lou Gehrig's remarkable feat in 1995.

1986 In a 6-4 loss to the Dodgers at Three Rivers Stadium, future home run king Barry Bonds goes 0-for-5 in his major league debut. The Pirates center fielder, batting leadoff, strikes out three times.

1992 Yankees' hurler Scott Sanderson beats the Brewers, 8-1, to become the ninth pitcher to defeat all 26 teams in the majors. The 6'5" righty joins Nolan Ryan, Tommy John, Don Sutton, Mike Torrez, Rick Wise, Gaylord Perry, Doyle Alexander, and Rich Gossage in accomplishing the feat.

1998 Mark McGwire hits his 27th home run to establish a major league record for the most homers hit before the month of June. Last season, Ken Griffey Jr. set the previous mark with 24 round trippers in the first two months of the season.

2014 The Mets become the first team to have three players appear in a game whose last name begins with a lower case 'd’, when Travis d'arnaud, Jake deGrom, and Matt den Dekker all play in the Mets’ 6-5 walk-off loss to Philadelphia at Citizens Bank Park. After having to use an upside-down capital ‘P’ on d’arnaud’s jersey last season due to lack of lower case letters, New York equipment manager Kevin Kierst asked Majestic, MLB's uniform supplier, to make 'small’ uniform letters available, knowing there would be even more of a need this season.

The promising southpaw, who goes the distance in the CanAm minor-league contest played in McNearney Stadium, believes he probably threw more than 300 pitches during the game

1949 Charley Lupica announces from a twenty-foot platform atop a flagpole that he will remain perched there until the Indians win another pennant or are eliminated from the race. Although the local grocery store owner abandons his post in late September with the Tribe in fourth place, Cleveland owner Bill Veeck will reward the loyal fan with a souvenir 50-foot flagpole and a brand new car.

1961 Carroll Hardy, batting for Carl Yastrzemski, bunts for a single in the eighth inning of Boston's 7-6 loss to the Yankees. The Red Sox outfielder will be the only player to pinch-hit for both Captain Carl and Ted Williams.

1964 In the nightcap of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium, Gaylord Perry pitches ten extra-inning frames in relief, getting the victory when the Giants beat the Mets in the longest game ever played in baseball history, 8-6. During the seven hour, 23 minute, 23-inning marathon, the future Hall of Famer is reported to have thrown his first spitball in a major league game.

1975 For the fifth time in his career, Cesar Tovar gets his team's lone hit in a game when he breaks up Catfish Hunter's bid for a no-hitter with a sixth-inning single in the Rangers' 6-0 loss to the Yankees. The Texas DH also accomplished the feat against Barry Moore (1967 Senators), Dave McNally (1969 Orioles), Mike Cuellar (1969 Orioles), and Dick Bosman (1970 Senators).

1976 After an error sets up a six-run rally for the Padres in the eighth inning, the new Atlanta owner, Ted Turner, invites the 2,994 fans watching the Braves lose to San Diego, 10-7, to come back the next night as his guests.

1999 After consulting a dugout TV monitor, Frank Pulli becomes the first umpire to use instant replay to make a call, changing Cliff Floyd's fifth inning home run to a ground-rule double in the Marlins' 5-2 loss to the Cardinals. After the Pro Player Stadium contest, the National League League officials make it clear the use of technology should not have been used to reverse the call.

2001 The Red Sox finally beat the Yankees in their eighth attempt, and for the first time in over a year since Pedro Martinez scoffed at the 'Curse'. The right-hander was 7-1 with a 1.44 ERA when he said, "Wake up the Bambino and let me face him -- I'll drill him in the "%#$," but after the comment he managed only seven more winless starts, making it first time he did not win in seven straight starts since the first seven major league appearances as a rookie with the Dodgers.

2008 In front of many visiting Red Sox fans at Camden Yards, Manny Ramirez becomes the 24th and 12th-youngest major leaguer to hit 500 career home runs. The historic ball, thrown in the seventh inning by Orioles right-hander Chad Bradford, is caught in the stands by Damon Woo, who presents the Boston slugger with the ball after the game.

Ironically, Wanninger is the player who ended a consecutive-game streak of 1,307 consecutive games when he started the May 5th contest in place of Everett Scott, the team's regular shortstop.

1939 Four years after participating in the first major league night game as the visiting team in Cincinnati's Crosley Field, the Phillies host their first evening tilt, bowing to Pittsburgh at Shibe Park, 5-2. The team's loss to the Bucs is not the first major league night contest to be played in Philadelphia, or at Shibe Park for that matter, as the A's, who share the ballpark with the NL team, lost to Cleveland playing under the lights two weeks ago in the first night game in American League history.

1941 In front of the largest crowd in the American League this season, Johnny Sturm hits his first major league homer, an eighth-inning two-run blast into the right field stands at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. The round-tripper, which breaks a 1-1 deadlock, begins a streak in which one or more Yankees will hit a home run in 24 consecutive games, a record that will stand for 53 years.

1975 California right-hander Nolan Ryan's 100th career victory is a memorable one when he no-hits the Orioles at Anaheim Stadium, 1-0. The Angels' fireballer ties Sandy Koufax's big league mark, notching his fourth career no-hitter.

1987 Thanks to Indian hurler Phil Niekro's 9-6 win over the Tigers, the Niekro brothers pass the Perrys (Gaylord and Jim) with 530 combined victories. Phil and Joe will end their careers with a total of 539 wins, making them the most successful sibling combination in major league history.

1992 The Astros use their top pick, the No. 1 overall selection, to draft Cal State Fullerton infielder Phil Nevin over Derek Jeter, a shortstop from Kalamazoo Central High. Houston, aware of the huge signing bonuses given to the previous two top drafts, Todd Van Poppel and Brien Taylor, may have not selected the future Hall of Famer, drafted sixth overall by the Yankees, because it was believed the high school standout was seeking a bonus of at least $1 million to forego playing baseball at the University of Michigan.

1997 When Wilton Guerrero scurries to pick up pieces of his shattered bat after grounding out to start the game, home plate ump Steve Ripley becomes suspicious and discovers that the bat has been altered. The rookie Dodgers second baseman is immediately ejected from the game by crew chief Bruce Froemming, and the 21 year-old infielder will also receive an eight-day suspension and a $1,000 fine for his use of a corked bat.

2007 After being ejected from the game against the Chattanooga Lookouts, Mississippi Braves manager Phillip Wellman kicks dirt on home plate, and then proceeds to draw the umpire's strike zone in the dirt before tossing third base into the outfield. The minor-league skipper continues his tirade when he crawls to the mound, throws the rosin bag like a hand grenade at the ump, and then carries second base with him as he exits AT&T Field.

1957 Moe Drabowsky sets a National League record for the most hit batsmen in a single game when he plunks four Reds in the Cubs' 4-3 loss at Crosley Field. Cincinnati's right fielder Frank Robinson is drilled in consecutive innings by the right-hander, who was born in Ozanna, Poland.

1959 The White Sox ground crew rids the playing field of gnats using a smoke bomb attached to a postgame fireworks display. The Comiskey Park contest, delayed for half an hour because of the insects, will end with a 3-2 Oriole victory when the smoke clears.

1989 The Orioles, known as the Browns when the club played in St. Louis, become the fifth franchise in baseball history to record their 3,000th victory. The other clubs which have reached the milestone include the Cubs, Giants, Pirates, and Yankees.

1995 The Expos pick Serra High School (San Mateo, CA) standout Tom Brady in the 18th round, the 507th player selected overall, in baseball's amateur draft. The tall athletic 17 year-old catcher with a powerful left-handed swing and a rocket arm elects to play football at the University of Michigan, before making his record-setting six Super Bowl appearances as the quarterback for the NFL Patriots.

1936 The Bronx Bombers beat the Indians in a 16-inning game, 5-4. During the extra-inning marathon played at Yankee Stadium, the pitchers for either team fail to record a single strikeout.

1938 In a game against the Red Sox, Indians' pitcher Johnny Allen storms off the mound and doesn't return when he is ordered by ump Bill McGowan to cut off his distracting dangling sweatshirt sleeve. The shirt ends up in the Hall of Fame but the Lenoir, North Carolina native doesn't.

1950 The Red Sox compile 42 total bases in their 20-4 bashing of the Browns. The Fenway fireworks will continue tomorrow when Boston adds insult to injury, beating St. Louis, 29-4.

1957 Howard University awards honorary degrees of Doctor of Laws to Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King and recently retired Dodgers infielder Jackie Robinson. In the coming years, the former baseball great and the Baptist minister will often appeared together at Civil Rights rallies, fundraising events, and demonstrations.

1960 In the Cardinals' 9-1 loss to Pittsburgh at Forbes Field, Bob Gibson ties a major league record when he strikes out four batters in one inning, the additional whiff coming as a result of a wild pitch. The fourth-inning strikeout victims include Jerry Lynch, Jim Pagliaroni, Bill Mazeroski, and Don Cardwell.

1966 The A's select future Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson in the first round (2nd pick) of the amateur draft. The Mets, with the first overall pick, choose Steve Chilcott, a high school catcher who will never play a day in the major league.

1982 Joining Lou Gehrig, Everett Scott, Billy Williams and Joe Sewell, Dodger infielder Steve Garvey becomes only the fifth player in major league history to play in 1,000 consecutive games. The first baseman, establishing a National League record, will appear in 1207 consecutive games, before streak ends next season when he breaks his thumb, playing for the Padres in a collision at home plate.

1983 Steve Carlton of the Phillies strikes out Cardinals' outfielder Lonnie Smith for his 3,522nd career strikeout to pass Nolan Ryan as the all-time strikeout leader. On the same night‚ Ryan strikes out three San Francisco batters to finish one shy of Lefty's total, but will finish his career with 5,714, far ahead of the Philadelphia left-hander's mark of 4,136.

1998 After going 6-0 against Atlanta and Florida, the Cubs complete their third consecutive three-game sweep by beating the White Sox, 13-7. The last time Chicago put together a similar streak occurred in 1918.

2007 With the Yankees' 10-3 victory over the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field, Joe Torre wins his 2,000th game as a manager. The former Braves (257), Mets (286) and Cardinals (351) skipper becomes the first person in big league history to have reached the milestone and also have at least 2,000 hits as a player.

2007 With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning at Network Associates Coliseum, Shannon Stewart lines a single to right field to break up Curt Schilling's no-hitter. Thanks to a first inning home run by David Ortiz, the Red Sox beat the A's, 1-0.

2008 Johnny Damon goes 6-for-6, including a walk-off single which gives New York a wild 12-11 comeback victory over the Royals. The outfielder becomes the first Bronx Bomber, and only the second player, to collect six hits at Yankee Stadium.
