Ratio

I have a question about uploading. I'm new to this & I understand that you need to keep your downloads running. I just notice. That after a while. My uploads are at 0 lbs. Even though I'm leaving them running. Why isnt it changing my ratio. I don't want to get banned. As I love the site. And enjoy sharing files with the rest of you. Thank you guys.

What goes into deciding that? Seems kind of lopsided with the majority of users not helping promote the site and it's long term success? I'll keep seeding mine as long as I can, but doesn't seem fair to not have some sort or repercussions of having less than a specific ratio.
