Butler is in playoffs 2nd point guard, his numbers ok first game. Ejected remember? Simmons is not a chump, he just no jump-shot. Magic johnson had none either, recall? Antetokounmpo had none either - his still looks bad form. Simmons - great defender, great handle, great distribution - what you want with a point guard in second year. Embiid is best big man in the game - when playing. Ha.
I just think Simmons is highly overrated myself. I also don't feel he's a great ball handler at 6'10", lots of TO's. Comparing him to Giannis is pretty intense, and to Magic is just blasphemy! Jimmy will have to step it up for sure, that's a nice chunk of the salary cap now. Cheers
For his size name me one other point guard. None. 'Great' is speculative. Turnovers due to his inability to jump shoot. I wasn't comparing him to Antetokounmpo or Johnson, just making statement of other players who turned out ok & didn't have a jump shot when start the career.
and Butler is a Unrestricted free agent, no salary cap hit unless they take him.
I just think Simmons is overrated. His numbers are ok of course, ball-handling mediocre, but I just don't think he fills the hype going forward. Without the full cast of Embid, Butler, Harris, and even Redick, I don't think he'd be leading the 76's to Victory. I wonder how he'd do with the Suns line-up minus Booker. He doesn't seem to have that paint presence like Giannis at that height. I guess i'm just a hater
I also think Donovan Mitchell was a better choice for Rookie of the Year last year. I feel he put in a lot more when it counted in big games.
I'm sure Jimmy B will hang even if they get swept in the next round. I think they'll shoot him a beefy deal. I always thought he was legit, but where else is he going to go after Minnesota? We'll have to see what happens next round.. cheers!
