Seeding Requirements

I've seen a large influx of new accounts with a heavily skewed seeding ratio, several of which having precisely 0% uploaded - which begs the question - will there ever be a seeding requirement to incentivise sharing within the community? I love the fact we can rely on numerous members for prompt and well edited videos and have done for many years but it seems as if some users don't feel the need to give back which is something I can't quite understand given that this is by FAR the best private tracker for sports content. I think a small seeding ratio requirement, along with a freeleech section would make sense in building this site we all know and love.

games are leeched and leechers disappear immediately. Games don't last on the internet like the old days on TYT which was for weeks , months or even years. . TYT = Ten yard torrent which had seeding ratio requirements.

I'm not saying that it should be that strict; just like a basketball team, you should contribute on both ends. I think a 10-20% min upload or a minimum time of like 3-4 days seeding would go far in improving the community. This is really the only private tracker of a high standard that doesn't have any requirements to incentivise sharing

after a sluggish , hit-and-run period i have started seeding for days and i have raised my ratio from 0.3 to almost 0.6

if someone has learned to seed , he will seed bogeyman or not , if not he will not boogeyman or not

I haven't figured out how to automate, so I'm always late to the new releases - there are always tons of seeders and no one really DLing - how am I supposed to get my ratio up? Do people actually come back days after a game is over to get it? That seems really hit-or-miss.

almost all UL buffer comes from Sunday evening till Tuesday/Wednesday , try and be a seeder then

I don't really know even if the ratio showed is real or not. I can speak for what I see with my account. I have a seedbox and I seed all the files for 28 days. NFL and NBA games usually reach a ratio over 100 in the first day, but when i check my stats here the numbers are all wrong. If I seeded for a ratio of 100.00 on my torrent client, here it appears with a ratio of 0.003, so... Right now here it shows that my ratio is 26.6 but it should be easily over 100. I don't know if it's only a problem with me, or for everybody, or only for people who use seedboxes. But if the tracker don't count right, it's pointless forcing a minimum ratio for download new files. To be honest I have this problem with the other private tracker that I'm in (which requires a seeding ratio to download stuff) but not like this. Some files it's like I never snatched but usually the 80% of what I seed is counted, so I don't have problems. Here I seed a huge amount of TiB (I always reach my monthly TiB limit on my seedbox) but only the 20% if I'm lucky is counted for real.

it really depends on how the cappers and admins feel about this. if they're okay with the majority of people not seeding, then it's not a problem - it's their site and their efforts to cap and distribute.

i think there's a bunch of users here that aren't and haven't ever been a member of any private torrent site, so they've never given seeding much thought, and have never been required to seed anything back. alot of people with terrible ratios will leave thanks in comments or give thumbs up, so that makes me think that they don't understand that seeding might be a way to show appreciation.

With most NBA games You can never reach a ratio of 0.1. Old problem. Other sites tried similar requirements. It doesn't work. Yes, I know, it worked at a specific time for a specific user with a specific set of files. But in general it doesn't. I keep seeding the same games since yesterday and no one wants to see those games anymore. No way to reach that ratio of 0.1.

The popular current games of yesterday, with which You might be able to reach the ratio are now restricted. Not smart.

I understand that You need to incentivize seeding, but this is not the way.

Dude, I have an auto ratio of 15.0 on my torrent client. With almost all the games that I download (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAAF, NCAAM) I reach that target. When I don't reach it I still have a minimum ratio of 12.0 or 13.0

And if I don't set that auto ratio and keep the files up to be downloaded the ratio can be well over 80.0, sometimes even over 100.0

I guess you download your games well late when the majority of the people already have it.

Hey man, thanks for picking this up. Since my last post I gained some insight and positive experience with seeding. It's true that I sometimes don't watch anything for a week, and then I try to get stuff that is days old, and it seemed almost impossible to get the newly required ratio. But for a month or so I now seed much longer and on most files I get a ratio well above 0.1. Since then my overall ratio is slowly climbing. Maybe in March I'll be above 0.1. So I sure changed my ways..

I believe Your numbers, I know that some guys get that ratio because they have good connections and hardware and they put it to good use. And hooray to that!! But please understand that other guys ratio must be very low if Yours is so high. The more You upload, the less others can upload. Rules about minimum ratios make peers rival for upload volume. And this fight is decided by technical infrastructure, and You seem to be winning. In other posts since the one You quoted I commented on this. In that thread a whole bunch of people talk about this problem.

It's seems clear to me, that a rule of a minimum ratio is not the way. But a rule of minimum ratio in combination with a minimum upload time looks much better. You reach a minimum time of seeding or a minimum ratio, and then You can stop seeding, whichever comes first. We need to avoid to cut off people who just can't rival with guys like You. And we need to encourage guys like You to keep going in just that way, because all that volume You upload helps others so much. So we can't tell You, You should seed less. That would be idiotic. But a rule of minimum ratio may lead to such a scenario.

I'm not in seeding rivalry with nobody. I know exactly how things know for everyone since I'm familiar and using properly the p2p torrent system by 15 years +. In fact my torrent client is set to stop seeding when I reach a ratio of 15.0 or the file is in seeding for 28 straight days. Because if I don't do that my ratio will be over 100.0 for the vast majority of the files I snatch, other people can't seed but most importantly I run out the monthly traffic limit of my seedbox in matter of days.
